15% for Glasgow Girls Club this 'Black Friday Weekend'

Black Friday is always a tricky area for small businesses. I wanted to do something positive this Black Friday weekend and pledge to give 15% to Glasgow Girls Club.

I first met Amy the founder and director of the Glasgow based not for profit group in the summer after she placed an order on my website. We got chatting and met for a coffee and realised a lot of our values were aligned in the areas of work we do.
As a mum of two daughters, empowerment and opportunity for girls is something I feel really passionate about. Glasgow Girls Club runs in the East End of Glasgow. It helps young girls and women between the ages of 13-25 to overcome barriers and achieve their full potential whilst building confidence.
Some of the girls involved are sometimes less engaged in traditional forms of education but the Glasgow Girls Club lets them participate in projects and trips to show other ways they can elevate themselves to further education, job or social aspects.
I was immediately amazed by the success stories Amy was telling me about and knew I wanted to get involved in some way.
We thought it would be a great opportunity to talk about sustainable fashion in a world were young girls are exposed to fast fashion 24/7.
I set them a brief to plan and execute a photoshoot for LAW.

They were allowed to bring styling items but only those that were sourced from a pre-loved source. They did some planning and mood boards and we met at SWG3 in Glasgow with photographer Francesca Morrison
The girls secured beautiful model Maggie Smith who works with Glasgow Girls Club on a lot of their projects and the make up was done by Daniell Dickson.
It was a great day, they learned about sourcing, timekeeping, lighting, styling and how to pick some great photos. Here are some of the results.
